2.4 Success Criteria Checklist

Success Criteria Checklist

Measure what matters for skill quality

A well-designed Skill should meet these criteria to be considered production-ready.

Core Quality Criteria

Triggers on the right prompts — activates when the user needs it
Produces consistent output — same quality every time
Handles errors gracefully — does not crash on edge cases
Works on the first or second attempt — reliable enough for daily use

Measurable Metrics

Quantitative Metrics

Skill triggers on 90% of relevant queries (test with 10-20 variations). Completes workflow in X tool calls. 0 failed API calls per workflow.

Qualitative Metrics

Users do not need to tell Claude next steps. Workflow completes without user correction. Consistent results across sessions.

Testing Checklist

Tested with at least 10 different prompt variations
Verified output format matches expectations
Tested with missing or incomplete inputs
Measured token consumption compared to manual approach
Confirmed skill does not trigger for unrelated prompts

Quality Gate

Do not ship a Skill until it passes 5 consecutive successful runs with different inputs. This minimum bar ensures basic reliability.
